elevation-gurgaon-bigAt a time when sustainable development is the call of the hour, Gurgaon’s Pathways School has received the Platinum (highest) certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB), while saving eight to ten percent in project costs.

The recognition by the US Green Building Council certifies Pathways as the highest rated green school building in the world. The US council is a prestigious non-profit organization that promotes sustainable building design and construction in the world through its leadership of the World Green Building Council.

To receive the LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification.

The certification is recognition of leadership and efforts in the field by Pathways School Gurgaon. It has the honour of being the first school serving all grades K-12 in the world to achieve LEED-EB Platinum Certification.

Among all the educational facilities worldwide who have achieved this top distinction, including one high school and a small number of universities, Pathways is the highest rated. The school has also secured many other landmarks along with this rating.

This includes being the highest rated LEED-EB school in the world, the first LEED-EB Platinum school in India and the first LEED-EB certified school in India. On receiving this certification Director of Pathways School, Prashant Jain, said, “At Pathways Schools, we believe that in addition to imparting a well rounded education, it is our responsibility to raise awareness amongst our students on sustainability and sensitise them towards nature and its significance.

With this in mind, while designing the school building, we emphasized on creating a Green Campus with Zero Discharge; reduction in project costs was an important benefit because aside of realizing savings, we disproved the notion that green buildings are expensive. It is a great moment of pride for us and for the country as well. India now houses the first full K12 School on the planet to achieve the LEED-EB Platinum rating apart from being the highest rated LEED-EB school on Earth.”
