buenos-aires-national-congress-building-on-a-sunset_Nirvana_TravelWith wedding season just around the corner, love’s in the air, and with it some perfect honeymoon destinations, like Bariloche.

Think of warm, beautiful weather, smooth beaches stretching out as far as the eye can see, colourful and kitschy clubs and the amazing feeling of being in the middle of nowhere, and you’ll think of Bariloche, a small Argentinean town in the province of Rio Negro, located at the foot of the Andes.

While not yet a destination on everybody’s to-go list, Bariloche is quite an amazing and beautiful place, perfect for your dream honeymoon. So check out all the amazing things you can do when here.

Route of the Seven Lakes

The Route of the Seven Lakes drive is an amazing and wonderfully scenic 248km round-trip that follows a windy road past four of the seven magnificent lakes, charming towns, green forests, tundras, and even a waterfall. Definitely one of the most romantic things you can do in Bariloche.

Skiing, Kayaking& Horseback Tours

South America’s most happening skiing destination, Bariloche is peppered with charming and exciting ski resorts that are perfect for skiers of all levels of experience and enthusiasm. If skiing isn’t your cup of tea, then you can also opt to rent a kayak and explore the amazing fjords of this country.

If that doesn’t satisfy the adventurer in you, then the exciting glacier hikes will definitely help. If something quieter is what you’re looking at, then the numerous horseback tours would be a great option. Journey into the Patagonian steppe and the foothills of the Argentine Andes as you admire the picturesque lakes, transitional forests of cypress trees, and spot condors, black-necked swans, guanacos and deer. Definitely an experience you’ll never forget!

The Best of Chocolate!

While Bariloche is definitely known for its amazing cuisine, it’s especially famous for the chocolates. Known as Argentina’s chocolate capital, there is something special for everyone. Whether it’s the annual chocolate festival, the aptly named Avenue of Chocolate Dreams or the special, artisanal chocolates the town’s famous for, no sweet tooth will ever go back disappointed

Iguazu Falls

Breathtaking, unbelievable, idyllic; there are no words to describe this phenomenon, made up of a system of 275 waterfalls or cataracts, spanning an area 2.7 kilometres wide. Whether you choose to take a walk around this amazing force of nature or just stand and gape from a distance, the Iguazu Falls are reason enough to plan a honeymoon here.

Some More Lakes

Todos los Santos, Felix Frías, Lácar Lake, Nahuel Huapi, Puerto Blest; the lakes never end and neither does the fun. From luxurious cruises to exciting sailing adventures and water tours, the options are plenty and the natural beauty absolutely breathtaking. Snow-drizzled volcanoes, mirrored lakes and the magnificent Andes Mountains, this is the making of the perfect honeymoon.

“Bariloche is an idyllic place that’s picking up as far as tourism goes, yet is still quite unexplored, which really adds to its charm,” says Viren Batra, co-founder of Nirvana Excursions. “And while it’s not your typical honeymoon destination, we personally recommend it, especially if you have only a couple of days to spend.”
