Jaykumar_Rawal__Hon___ble_Minister_of_Tourism__Government_of_Maharashtra_addressing_media_about_Mumb_1232976 (1)The Ministry of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra in association with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), today announced the launch of the first edition of its newly developed annual property, the Mumbai Shopping Festival (MSF). India’s first of its kind citywide festival will be celebrated from 12th – 31st January 2018 across the length and the breadth of the city.

Speaking about the Mumbai Shopping Festival 2018, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said, “For the very first time in India, your government is pleased to create a unique shopping experience to be held across the city of Mumbai, called- the Mumbai Shopping Festival 2018. I am honored and pleased to announce this festival will be taking place from January 12th to January 31st 2018, launching Mumbai as a world –class shopping destination. The theme of#MumBuyKar will epitomize the shopper in each Mumbaikar – especially with the new notification by our Government which permits shops and establishments to remain opMumbai_Shopping_Festival_logoen 24X7”

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, is seeing zealous interest from partners including retailers, brands, restaurants, who have given innumerable hours to making the Mumbai Shopping Festival a reality.

“It gives me immense pleasure to announce that the brand ambassador for the Mumbai Shopping Festival 2018 is one person who truly signifies the Maharashrian ethos – Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra,” said Shri Jaykumar Rawal, Minister of Tourism & (EGS), Government of Maharashtra. “With Mumbai Shopping Festival, it is our aim to establish this event on a global platform as one of the most sought after and visited shopping and cultural festivals of the world. This is already one of the biggest initiatives by MTDC and the Ministry of Tourism and we are determined to make it make it even bigger in the coming years.”

In lieu of the recent notification by the Government of Maharashtra where shops and establishments can now stay open 24X7, the Ministry of Tourism and MTDC will set up MSF Night Bazaar – Mumbai’s first ever Night Bazaar Flea Market which will go on till 4am on weekends only. This will ensure that citizens derive the maximum benefit of the Mumbai Shopping Festival thereby showing that Mumbaikars truly go all out and celebrate #MumBuyKar. The MSF Night Bazaar would be held in non-residential defined zones which will have shopping till 4am as follows:

  • January 19thand January 20th at Malad ;
  • January 26thand January 27th at Powai

From one-of-a-kind outdoor markets and flash mobs to arenas, mega sales and rewards, Mumbai’s first twenty day shopping festival is sure to impress. Whether it’s about having fun with your family and friends or getting your hands on the hottest fashion trends, MSF2018 is where it’s at. The festival will present visitors with world-class, immersive retail experiences clubbed with staged captivating live performances, to enjoy and dance, throughout the city.

Adding to the festivities, the Mumbai Shopping Festival will also showcase MSF KhaoGalli – Mumbai’s first ever Food Truck Zones set up in different areas over the weekends. Tourists and citizens of Mumbai will love every bit of the customer-centric vibrancy and magic that will be brought alive by this unique experience.The MSF KhaoGalli in association with Food Trucks Association of India will be held at famous public hangout spots, during the weekends at:

  • January 13thand January 14 at WorliSeaface
  • January 19thand January 20th at Malad
  • January 26thand January 27th at Powai

Rewarding shoppers is also a critical element of the Mumbai Shopping Festival. Lucky shoppers can win daily, weekly and a bumper prizes during the festival. All the shoppers will have to do is purchase goods worth Rs. 500/- from a registered MSF outlet, and sms<MSF><Invoice Number><Shop Name Location><Amount><Answer to the question displayed at partner outlets>to 56263. The winners for each of the award categories, to be announced during the closing ceremony on January 31, 2018, will be picked up through a computerized random draw set up by MSF.

There will be multiple events across the city, every weekend throughout the festival. Mumbai will see over 500 performances in multiple stages across 13 different locations including Crawford Market; Worli Sea Face; Bandra Bandstand, Shivaji Park, Goregaon, TalavPali Thane, Kalyan, Juhu Beach, Vashi Railway station; Khargharand  Kandivali amongst others.

The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique race that celebrates wellness, happiness, and individuality. Now the largest running series in the world, The Color Run, over 6 million runners worldwide in 40+ countries, now comes to India and will be launched as part of the Mumbai Shopping Festival. The Color Run will be held at Jio Gardens, BandraKurla Complex on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
